About Us

Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe, Galway Music Resource, School of Music ,St. Mary's College Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe has been established to fulfil an obvious need for structured music learning in Galway city. To that end we offer a wide range of courses spanning popular, traditional and classical music for students of all ages. More than this though, the structure of the school has been set so that these courses complement each other in a way that contributes to each student receiving the broadest musical education possible.

Our aim as teachers is to communicate the joy of learning music to each student and parent. We do not believe in the idea of learning as work. Music and practise should be the fun part of each day's activities.

The fun begins at Kindergarten level and using the colourstrings program for early learning we have introduced training that children all over the world just love, and yet flows seamlessly into instrumental tuition once the child is ready to progress to that level.

Older children that enroll for instrumental training receive inclusive musicianship classes to help them to develop their aural and reading skills alongside their playing skills. Plans are also in place to implement chamber music and orchestral experiences for students and again these will be offered free of any additional tuition charge.

Adult tuition is catered to in a way designed to appeal to the mature student and, in addition to the courses already described, also offers music appreciation to those wishing to follow that path of learning as opposed to theory and musicianship. In short we aim to provide access to all who wish to learn and provide this in a single location.

St Mary's college have accommodated this vision for music on their premises and have made available to us all the resourses they can bring to bear. We acknowledge our gratitude to them for all of this.
