Mr. Rabbitte's formal studies began with his interest in teaching methodology and was awarded a diploma in string pedagogy from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He successfully auditioned to study with renowned Romanian violinist Adrian Petcu at the Cork School of Music (CIT) where he graduated with honours majoring in violin performance, teaching methodology, conducting and composition. He was accepted as a student of Prof. Mariana Sîrbu (Leipzig, Germany) graduating with a masters degree in classical string performance (UL). During this time he studied chamber music under Prof. Bruno Giuranna and musical analysis under Dr. Seamus de Barra completing his thesis analysing Schubert's compositional techniques. His recital and orchestral soloist debuts were well received featuring works by Brahms and Beethoven.

Pursuing various interests, he undertook a degree in pharmaceutical science and applied biology (GMIT). Majoring in pharmaceutical biochemistry and molecular biology, he graduated with distinction completing a thesis concerning enzyme synthesis. Throughout this period he studied music methodology with key members of the Szilvay Foundation including its founder Géza Szilvay (England). Progressing further he completed a professional masters degree in education (NUIG) specifically related to the psychology and modern teaching approaches of science and music.

Mr. Rabbitte has served as musical director, choral conductor, and principle violinist with both the NUIG choral association and chamber orchestra as well as violinist with the Academos World Academy Strings in collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. As an educator, he has thought science and music in secondary and third level institutes also guest speaking on a wide variety of subjects from self-motivation and learning skills to science pedagogy and musical improvisation. Mr. Rabbitte continues to teach a variety of instruments, musical styles, subjects and appears as guest conductor and mentor to various chamber orchestras and string quartets. He has many compositions to his credit including three sonatas for violin and piano, a substantial collection of traditional Irish music and shorter works for piano. His orchestrations, arrangements and performances appear on a multitude of studio recordings by noted Irish artists and radio programmes.
