Campaign For A State Funded School Of Music
About The Campaign
We have maintained this as our primary objective since we opened our doors. But a short time ago we added to the arguments by publicly launching our intentions. The basis for that has not changed, but now in the time of Covid the issues have become even more prescient.
The state of arts infrastructure in Galway is in danger of collapse and the need for a school of music is city of this size is now becoming a national disgrace. Children born in Galway should not live with the knowledge that their education is being compromised because of geography.
We continue to work developing a working model for such a school and also mindful of other approaches, notably the work currently being done by the Galway Music Centre who as a powerful advocate for music infrastructure have now firmly added their voice to the call for state intervention. We are currently a part of the Galway Music Centre board.
The collective voice of all music practitioners is what is needed to bring this campaign to fruition. We invite all interested parties to continue to register their voices with us in the effort to effect change.
